The Bamileke tribe are farmers from Western Cameroon , the mask symbolises animals or spirits and are worn during ceremonies associated with new crops, initiations and funerals. Among the Westerners , the sacredness of the mask derives from the fact that the divinity is considered to be present in the mask.
A very unique art object, this mask made of solid wood, which comes from the Bamileke tribe who are farmers from Western Cameroon . This artful mask is a perfect accent to any existing decor for any home. Small cracks, discoloration, etc are a normal part of the ageing process and add to the character of each item.
